Re: CD/DVD/File Burner Problem

What program are you using to burn? What are you trying to burn? CDs, DVDs, or does it fail for both?

In the meantime, check to see if you have reverted from DMA to PIO. Windows will do that after x-amount of unsuccessful tries. There's a nice guide with pictures here and that "might" be all that's needed.

Re: CD/DVD/File Burner Problem

I use other software for my burning and I don't use WMP, so I really can't help much further. It's the Secondary IDE channel that gets kicked into PIO. If it's still in DMA, then you've got other problems. Hopefully someone familiar with the program you use will come along and can help you more. It probably won't hurt anything to uninstall the drivers and let Windows reinstall them. Might even help...

Sometimes I've had trouble making the manual reset to DMA stick. This registry file has always worked for me. It's almost the same as the registry fixes at the Sniptools link.
