Copying files to SanDisk Flash card

I am trying to copy a bulk lot of files from my computer to a 2GB SanDisk Ultra II flash card using Windows Explorer (XP SP2).

The files start copying and then at some point it stops with an error message
Error Copying file or folder

Cannot copy xxxxxx: The directory or file cannot be created
I then cannot copy any other files to the card.

However if I delete everything on the SanDisk, I can then copy that individual file across. I tried this many times and each time it would stop on a different file and each time I can copy that individual file to a blank disk. I tried it with two different SanDisks with the same result, however it copies to a Sony MemoryStick Pro without difficulty

Any thoughts?

Re: Copying files to SanDisk Flash card

Problem solved

The card was formated FAT16 as it came out of teh box. I re-formatted to FAT32 and it works OK
