all of my cd drives have stopped working
I have an Asus S480/SH CD drive, and an NEC 3500ag DVC RW burner, both of which have stopped reading discs altogether. I have tried uninstalling both devices and reinstalling them on my windows XP sp. 2 machine, only to find that both drives give me the same corrupt/missing driver error upon reinstallation that they gave me before uninstalling them. Also, I tried updating the firmware on the NEC, however no matter what flash utility i tried, none of them could actually find the device clearly listed under my device manager. Does anyone know what is going on?

Re: all of my cd drives have stopped working
Welcome to TSF.
![]() Scan the computer for malware. Also - Run the System File Checker: Click Start >> Run >> Type cmd, then click OK. A command prompt window will open >> type sfc /scannow (note the space after sfc). You may be asked to insert your XP disc. |
