cd burner will not work

i bought a dvd burner. and it is set as my master and my cd burner is set at slave and beofre i got a new dvd burner the old one was set at slave and the cd burner was set at master should i switch it back or can i fix it like it how it is please help me

Is the DVD burner at the end of the ribbon cable (set to Master)?
Is the cd burner in the middle of the ribbon cable (set to Slave)?

Also - are you using a 80-conductor cable?
