Computer Not Reading CDs/DVD's

I have a Sony Vaio 2004 model-its fairly contempory etc. It has CD and DVD rewrite. I rarely use those drives/functions at all, but up til a few weeks ago I could put in a DVD or CD and it would recognize it, and I would choose from the different media types to play/view or listen to CD/DVD. Now all of a sudden I put in a CD or DVD to either drive and no pop-up options come up. So it won't recognize the CD/DVD. I cannot listen or view. I have re-booted etc. Any ideas!! THANKS!!

Re: Computer Not Reading CDs/DVD's

Welcome to TSF.

Can you see the CD drive in "My computer"?
If not - remove the upper and lower filters.
