Can't find cd/dvd drives

I recently got a new CD/DVD burner and now my computer doesn't seem to see it, or my old cd rom drive. They worked a little bit before, but now it's as if they aren't there.

Re: Can't find cd/dvd drives

are you using an 80 wire ide cable on them with the
blue grey and black plugs
uninstall the upper and lower filters
scroll down to how here

check the jupers are set correctly
master on the end of the cable and slave to the middle plug

Re: Can't find cd/dvd drives

I think so, but I couldn't see a blue plug.
The upper filter already seemed to be gone.
The jumpers are set correctly.

They still don't work.

Re: Can't find cd/dvd drives

if the cable does not have the different coloured plugs it is an old 40 wire cable
put a 80 wire in it

Re: Can't find cd/dvd drives

How did it work before then? I've already burned several CDs with it.

Re: Can't find cd/dvd drives

So until I get the 80 cable, is there anyway I can trigger it to work temporarily?
