CD/DVD Burning fails

Hello all,

I have a BenQ DVD-RW with Lightscribe its about 1 and a half years old right now. It reads fine but fails to write to either type of media. Could this be related to software or drivers ? i thought of just throwing it out but wanted to check first if there is a possibility its not hardware failure.

It wont burn with Nero nor will it burn Pictures with the regular Windows utility. i tried different cd's and dvd's no chance.

burning the data on another computer works fine also on the same media.
