Dead CD/DVD drives
From the lots of things experience I've gained working at a PC repair shop so far, I found one interesting thing. I was working on this Dell and the comptuer would get to the windows XP splash screen and then restart. So I just thought it was a bad hard drive. Tried a different hard drive and reinstalled windows just fine only to find that it was doing the same thing! I unplugged all the devices but the hard drive and it booted fine. Plugged in the Top CD drive and it booted fine. Then Plugged in the bottom DVD drive and the computer would restart at the XP splash screen again. So long story short...Unplug all devices and try. It could be a simple fix. ...
