CD-ROM not responding

Hello everyone, I'm having issues with my CD-ROM not responding at all. I just noticed this problem a couple of days ago, I insert a disc the processing light will flicker but nothing happens. This is coupled with not being able to access drive files from My Computer.

Everything is connected properly, and windows detects no new drivers available.

MITSUMI CD-ROM FX54++M
Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0
Driver Date: 7/1/2001

OS: XP

Hi ksh87, if you did not move any wires or hardware prior to this issue, I assume the drive has just gone out. How old is the drive? What system is it in. Mike

this is the latest firmware i could find

you are probably better off replacing it with a dvdrw drive as it's a bit long in the tooth
