CD/DVD Drive isn't being registered?
As the title says my Atapi Combo 48X Max CD/DVD burner is not being seen by my computer... and i have no idea why.
It worked but 2 days ago, and for some reason just flat out quit. I have no idea as to why it may have stopped, but i can tell you that my computer is virus/adware/spyware free (or as clean as it can get) and in good health. All drivers are current and working, nothing has dramatically changed, it just stopped working flat out. Any and all suggestions are appreciate, and if you need any information just ask. |

Re: CD/DVD Drive isn't being registered?
Hi garebear09, by stopped working, do you mean the power light doesn't come on, won't read cd's, the tray door won't open, or it's flat out dead? Mike

Re: CD/DVD Drive isn't being registered?
I would go into the bios and verify that both IDE controllers are enabled and the drive is seen by the bios, if it is, save and boot the computer go to the device manager to see if the drive is seen there. Next would be to install a new 80 wire IDE ribbon, if this fails swap in a new drive to test it. Mike

Re: CD/DVD Drive isn't being registered?
Hi garebear09!!
Can you try to do what Dai post earlier. Try to delete the upper filter and lower filter. Refer to this for that: Delete Upper Filter/Lower Filter (Microsoft KB) Delete Upper Filter/Lower Filter (Other thread)
