Xp. Insert a CD, Crashes when any program is open
Hi all,
My CD drive has been acting up. Heres the scenario: 1) Windows Media Player is open 2) Insert an audio CD to play 3) System crashes! (I mean completely freezes) -------- 1) Power DVD player is open 2) Insert a DVD to play 3) System crashes! -------- 1) I am installing software that requires me to insert more than one CD 2) I insert CD1 installs fine. (Asks for CD2) 3) Insert CD2, system crashes. 4) Reboot, With CD2 in drive. 5) Start up install, CD2 works fine. (Asks for CD3) 6) Insert CD3, system crashes... ![]() As you can tell this is a really annoying problem, my CD drive works fine, unless there is some kind of program running which requires the disc to be read as soon as you insert it. Could this be a driver problem? I don't have the driver disc for the CD drive, but I will find out the make/model etc. if someone has any ideas/helpful sites or directions!
