Dvd burner and cd rom drive

The only way to access a dvd or cd in either of my drives is to first scan the drive for viurses every time I put on in. This just started happening a short while ago. I knew I was having problems with my motherboard so I thought something else had gone wrong. I changed the motherboard but it is still the same problem. I use windows live onecare for antivirus. I have used live onecare for almost one year and I did not encounter this problem with my drives until maybe 6 weeks ago. Thanks for any help.

avg free is the better option until onecare comes of age
check for infections follow the 5 steps here
