DVD Writer, Slow Writing Speed

I have two Sony DVD RW DW-G120A fitted to my computer. Until recently, when using Nero, either of them would write a film to a DVD in approximately 8 minutes, now it takes 90 - 120 minutes. In Device Manager, Primary IDE Channel, Advanced Settings, the transfer mode is set to 'DMA if available' but the Current Mode is set to 'Not Applicable' and is in grey and cannot be changed. However, I do have a second Primary IDE Channel and the Current Mode is set to 'DMA if available' but the Current Mode is set to 'Ultra DMA Mode 4' The driver for both DVD Writers is 5.1.2535.0. Is there anything I can do ???

Re: DVD Writer

Many thanks Dai. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device...e/IDE-DMA.mspx only confirmed what I have already done and looking at http://winhlp.com/node/10 I managed to get to REGEDIT and then I found HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

but after that at the age of 74 it did become a little complicated.
