Slow down of DVD Drives

Hi,
My hard drive had to be reformatted (took it to the experts to do, so assume all was done correctly). Ever since then, my DVD drives are really slow, taking 60 minutes to write data as opposed to the normal 13 minutes. Also, when copying data back onto by PC from a DVD it is so slow and I cant use any other application at the same time. The same applies when installing games etc, though once installed the games run OK.

I have Windows XP Media 2005
Sony DV-RW AW-G170a
Sony DVD Rom DDu1615.

I checked their properties in Device Manager, and both state that the devices are working OK. The Driver File details are :
C:\indows\System32|DRIVERS|cdrom.sys
C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\imapi.sys
C:\Windows\System32\driversPxHelp20.sys
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\redbook.sys
C:\Windows\System32\storprop.dll
Provider Microsoft
File Version 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

Both drives are listing the same drivers.

I hope that someone on this wonderful site has an idea what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance
Lynda
