Hoping someone can help here.
My daughter's computer, running WinXP Home, has a DVD/CD drive I installed last Christmas. It is the only optical drive on her machine. It worked fine for a long time, but at some point recently, games that needed to load info from the game CD stopped working. I can see the drive (in Explorer etc.), browse files on CDs that are inserted, install games or other software from the drive, watch movies, etc. etc., but games trying to access the drive for necessary files report errors that they cannot find the CD (messages such as please insert the game CD in the drive when it's already there, or more simply, can't find file XXX on drive D). This happens with both games that were previously installed AND with games we have installed since the problem started. The drive is a "LG GSA-H22N DVD+RW 18X8X16 DVD-RW 18X6X16 Dual Layer 8X DVD-RAM 12X DVD Writer 2MB Black OEM W/ SW" (copied from my order when I bought it). I have no idea where to start troubleshooting this and would love some help. Thank you! |
