Exclamation DVD Drive unavaliable

I installed some extra ram and another hardrive on my desktop this week, ever since i have done that, my DVD/CD Drive has been missing...

i have searched for it in my BIOS and it's there and active, i can also boot up from a disk... but when in Windows (XP) the drive is not in My Computer, It doesn't do anything when i insert a disk. the only way i can get it to work is if i boot up from a disk on the boot menu, but everytime i restart it allways disapears again...

Hope someone can help, this is getting really annoying.

Re: DVD Drive unavaliable

Hi, welcome to TSF.

Can you see the drive in Disk management? (Right click "My computer" > choose "Manage" > Disk Management)

If so - does it have a drive letter assigned?

Re: DVD Drive unavaliable

An awful lot of removable drives there - I can't see them all.

How is the drive connected - master/slave/primary/secondary?

Re: DVD Drive unavaliable

Any slave? What happens if you disconnect the slave? Jumper settings?

Re: DVD Drive unavaliable

All the removable drives- are they "real" or virtual?
If virtual - uninstall the software creating the drives and reboot the computer twice.
