Unformattable Flash Stick and more!
Hello.
First I transferred Dvi/AVI files from a Maxtor 400gb external HD direct to a generic 4GB flash stick. Half way to completion...ERROR. The files had not been transferred. but the pathway/destination and size of file had (corrupt or unreadable). I could not Delete files, format flash stick or defrag drive memory. no disk check would run. optimization of drive didn't help. All i kept getting was "cannot complete format/Cannot delete due to corrupt file/cannot format/incorrect parameters/delayed file transfer failure" I have accessed the BIOS. I have changed the REGEDIT value to FFFFFFFF. this helped somewhat as i have now managed to format the drive. However, the space these corrupt files have taken up on the drive are still unavailable. I have unchecked the "enable write cache" box. I have smacked my head against every Troubleshoot button and still cannot recover the lost space!!! Please someone tell me the solution. Thanks in advance, Dougal. |
