Need Help Please Dvddrive Not Showing In My Computer

My dvd drive is not showing up in my computer and when i went to device manger to check it out it says it is properly installed and there is not problem but there is. I have also uninstalled some virtual drives that i had earlier which never had a conflict with my real dvd drive. Could someone help me please i run a pc with windows xp media edition with a dvd drive from Acer.

Download and unzip this file to your desktop.

Double click the unzipped file to run it.

Reboot.

my dvd drive won't show up on windows explorer

My dvd drive is not showing up in my computer and when i went to device manger to check it out it says it is properly installed and there is not problem but there is. I have also uninstalled some virtual drives that i had earlier which never had a conflict with my real dvd drive. Could someone help me please i run a pc with windows xp media edition with a dvd drive from Acer.

I tried something called XP_CD-DVD-Fix.exe from dougknox.com but it didn't work it says it sucessfull and i reboot but it doesn't work.

are your Virtual Drives being run by Daemon ?? That software has caused a lot of this type of problem

I think then that Daemon's your culprit .. and I think that just uninstalling doesn't solve the problem, it's been a topic on many occasions on the forum. Have to get my thinking cap on and search a few threads to see what helped in the end. If you like, you could help by doing the same

Don't use Daemon in your search it brings up / targets Hijackthis threads

Please don't open more than one thread when looking for help , it doubles up the work we have to do and also can cause conflicting advice since we won't know what others might be advising .. Keep all the advice in one place and we know what has been said, what has been done & what alternative advice can be offered. Thanks
