Step 4: Restart the computer
If a CD recording program no longer works after you restart the computer, you must reinstall the CD recording program. were do i find this "cd recording program"?????? i copy and pasted the above off of tha micrisoft link Last edited by ben_buckendahl; 10-13-2007 at 03:22 PM. |

Re: my dvd\cd rewitable doesnt read cds or dvds any more????
did you uninstall the drive and reboot yet
the next step would be to uninstall your burning software, but you do not have any to uninstall so that's not the problem this free one will be ok when you get it working again http://www.download.com/DeepBurner-F...-10527371.html

Re: my dvd\cd rewitable doesnt read cds or dvds any more????
Hi Ben,
You need to go into the Device Manager and 'uninstall' the CD/DVD Drive/s, and reboot the computer so that Windows® can 'recognise' them and reinstall them on the reboot. Kind Regards,

Re: my dvd\cd rewitable doesnt read cds or dvds any more????
Hi Ben, To find the Device Manager, do this...
Right Click the My Computer Desktop Icon > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > View > show hidden devices. Now you will need to expand the item DVD/CD-ROM Devices > Right click all CD/DVD's > uninstall > OK > OK. While you are in the Device Manager, please scroll down and let us know if there are any Red X's or Yellow ! marks next to anything listed. Make a note of them and report back here with which ones. (If any) Close out of the Device Manager and reboot the computer. Adding to what dai has said, we'll look into the BIOS after you complete this task. Regards,
