D: Drive disappeared

My D: (DVD R drive) has disappeared. Its not showing up in My Computer, CDs won't burn and games can't be reconized.

Following instructions from a different forum, I uninstalled the D drive from the device manager. I was told it would reinstall it on its own after reboot. My computer tried to reinstall the driver for it on start up, but it failed and said to consult the manufacturer of the drive.

I went back into the device manager and it recognized the drive, however there was a exclamation point beside it saying it cannot find the driver, (Code 37).

I think this may have been result of trying to download SonicStage.

Re: D: Drive disappeared

Hi,

If this is Windows VISTA or XP look at the CD Gone Fix ( major geeks or just google it.

The solution I used was from this thread on another forum.

I only ran the registry fix once

It worked fine and my Optical drives have behaved ever since
