dvd drive will not read disks

I basically have the same problem as you dave, the "bios" shows the drive, "my computer" shows the drive and it shows in the device manager without any problems showing but it will not read or burn any discs Blank, retail, CD's or DVD's. My DVD-RW is a Lite-On LH-20A1L-06 SATA drive, with 2 SATA hard drives and 1 IDE DVD-RW (Lite-On LH-20A1H) that all work just fine. I can't get any help from Liteonit, they just seem to ignore my requests.

Has anyone got a possible answer to this problem?
TIA!

Re: dvd drive will not read disks

I tried that but to no avail. I tried every thing else I could find but nothing works. This is a brand new SATA drive also

Thanx Dai

Re: dvd drive will not read disks

The only things i find on the first page are programs that are installed.
I don't see an entry for the drive

Is that what you are talking about dai?

EDIT: the previous post dissapeared.

Re: dvd drive will not read disks

i binned the previous posts as i replied to them without realising it was not you
that's the problem when someone hijacks a thread especially when the wrong one follows the instructions meant for the other it can end up in a hell of a mess
can you try the drive on another computer
