Ipod wont read properly

I am using my old ipod as a hard drive, and its got some data i want back on it, but it keeps giving me the sad ipod icon when i plug it into my computer. Ive tried what apple said, but its past its warranty. I used isobuster on an old cd I had that wouldnt read but had info on it, is there something like that for ipods??

"buy now" "buy now" "purchase" "buy using reg now" I have to buy all of them. Even if they were free, Ive already cracked all of those and tried the full version, none of them work at all. Is there a real program that can recover data from ipod harddrives?? Maybe if I put it in a different ipod?

Is there anyone on here who actually knows anything about hard drives who can help me out? I knew a guy who has since moved away that used to recover data from fried hard drives, so I know there is a way to do it. Is there anyone on this forum who knows anything??
