Need help do not know what to do
I have an emachine computer. I have a Lite-on DVDRW SHW-1635S Yesterday it read discs no problem, now it acts as though nothing is in the disc drive...I run XP. I have no idea what to do, it doesn't read any disc it says it's empty. or iff I try to play a game it says please insert disc when the disc is in there. please anybody what do I do? How do I fix this?

you can try updating the firmware, I have attached the latest firmware i could find on the liteon site.
Also just check your cables, if you have a spare try swapping it

After unzipping that driver I got the error:
No Matched Drive detected! This utility is only for Lite-on DVD-RW SHW-1635S Drive. Detected Drives: 3-0-0-0 E:Lite-on DVD-RW SHW-1635S YGS4 Whenever i looked it up before and said what kind of drive I had i didn't have all those extra letters after or before all it said was Lite-on DVD-RW 1635S. I also never installed then unistalled any cd burning programs. I also never got any error messages before or after it stopped reading i believe it is still spinning just not reading. My device driver shows no errors either. please help. thanks |

I know Im about to sound like an idiot but I have no idea what filters you are talking about...and if i had them on there before why all of a sudden would they cause my CD rom to not read. Im a bit confused.
