[SOLVED] DVD +- Writer not recognized in software
I am not sure if this is the correct place for this thread, if not, please move it to correct location.
I have an HP Pavillion a1520n with a TSSTCorp CD/DVDW TS-H552L burner. The software I use to access this drive is Sonic DigitalMedia Deluxe v7. Windows XP Pro Media Center is the OS. All was working fine until I installed Ipod/Itunes. Now, the Sonic software does not recognize that there is a drive attached to the system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the software (recovery on the software) and the drive, in different directions (ie: software before drive, drive before software), but Sonic still does not recognize the drive. (Apple Ipod/Itunes have been uninstalled for the duration, but no help) I can do "drag and drop" to a cd, and I have downloaded the freeware "DeepBurner" which seems to work (not real sure on the dvd). I DO NOT have upper or lowerfilters in the registry. HP tech support tells me to do a full system recovery, after I do a complete backup (If I could do a backup, I wouldn't be chatting with tech support) ![]() The computer also has "Media Center" programs. ie: digital media archive, dvd play settings, Muvee autoproducer. ALL programs seem to be Sonic software and are disconnected from the burner drive! Any Ideas? Going crazy here! TIA Debra |

Re: DVD +- Writer not recognized in software
uninstall the drive from the device manager and reboot and check it after windows reinstall it
check for a firmware update for the drive after you install itunes it used to cause problems when you removed it,there has been nothing posted on it recently,so not sure if it still does or not

Re: DVD +- Writer not recognized in software
I have managed to fix the problem.
The answer was found in the forum here.... but I can't find it now. I clicked on a link instead of right clicking to open in new window. Here is the link that fixed my problems: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921476 Hope it helps somebody else also Now to see what happens when I reinstall the Ipod. Thanks for the ideas Debra |
