[SOLVED] possible DVD/CD-ROM [*possible* driver trouble]

Ok here is my problem---> I inherited the only computer in the house where both the DVD/CD-ROM drive and the CD/DVD burning drive dont work. They both open and close but won't read anything. The drives dont even show up in my computer. I think it may have something to do with the drivers b/c when I went into device manager and looked under DVD/CD-ROM drives their is a yellow highlighted ! next to the 2 drivers. the 1st driver is titled ASUS CD-S480/A5 and the 2nd below that driver is titled HP DVD Writer 640c . I don't know if anyone els has had this problem in the past but if their is anyone who could possible guide me through how to fix it then please help me out b/c i really need these drives up and running for school purposes. If their is any extra info that anybody needs to help out please just ask and ill see what i can find out. HELP

Re: possible DVD/CD-ROM [*possible* driver trouble]

the listing you are refering to is the drives not the drivers which come as part of windows
first try uninstalling them from the device manager and rebooting and then check the device manager and see if the yellow as gone
if you still have a problem with the drives uninstall the upper and lower filters, scroll down to how here
