[SOLVED] My CD-Rom isn't playing Video CD's
Hi.... I am a Computer Trainer and running my own Computer Repairing and Training Institute in my city.
I have a very strange problem with one of my PC of my Lab.Its Specifications are Dell Precision WorkStation 610 MT, Intel Pentium III 550 MHz 128 MB Ram S3 Graphics Inc. Savage4 (16 MB) Its CD-Rom is a SCSI Device and its takes a larger pin Data cable than that of Normal ID CD-Rom.A normal Data cable have 40 Pin Holes and mostly 3 slots.(1 for Main Board and 2 for ID Devices). But this Large Data Cable has 5 slots having 25 Pin Holes each. Problem....? My CD-Rom Plays CD's Normally. It also Boot bootable CD's and Copy data except Playing & Copying Video Format CD's. Any CD which has the Video Format (contains "MPEGAV" folder) , cannot be played and copied by this CD Rom. Whenever I played a video file in any player ( like Windows Media Player, VCD Cutter, Cyberlink Power DVD, Jet Audio, ETC...) it took a long time then it gave error. Here is a Screen Shot of that error. ![]() And whenever I tried to Copy any file or folder of any Video CD, it gave this error. ![]() I know, I can use a Normal ID CD-Rom and it runs well as I checked already by using one of ID Port of this System. An ID CD-Rom works perfectly on this system but I love to find the Solution of the Problems. And also I will have to teach many of students about this unique problem. I want to know that what happened to my SCSI CD-Rom which was playing Video cd's smartly since last 2 years. Even now, its lense is powerfull. Its Installation is fast,it copies Data CD's and even installs Windows (98 , Xp) in no time as well. But it cannot copy and play Video CD's. Windows has no problem at all. I have installed new Windows XP SP2 Severl Times but no result. I have checked each option of BIOS Setup and SCSI Utility Manager but I didn't find the Solution. Please somebody help me.I think I have explained my Problem in a better way. I even boot a bootable CD, then without restarting system, replace the bootable disk with a Video CD. But same result. It shows the Folders and files of CD and Video files namely AVSEQ01, AVSEQ02 etc but inserting Copy or Type Command, it gives error that Drive is not Responding..Retry? Abort ? Fail? What should I do to Play my Video CD's through this CD-Rom. This CD-Rom has 6 pins for Jumper Block Mode. By default, 2 jumpers are ON at Position 1 and 3. I cant check this CD-Rom in another system as I have no other System containing SCSI Device. So plzzzzzzzzzzzzz..Any Idea U hav? |

Re: My CD-Rom isn't playing Video CD's
Try k-lite codec pack, or coles codecs. There is a free download, do
a google for it. Your pc does not have the proper program to read the file extention you are trying to display. Once installed WMP will play them just fine.

Re: My CD-Rom isn't playing Video CD's
Thanx Dear.....I tried this Codec
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Co...k_download.htm But the result is same...I think there is no need of Ceodec for this problem. Its a Harware Problem. And i dont know how to manage the SCSI Utility Manager.... |
