CD burner driver

I bought a computer from a friend. She said it had a DVD & CD burner. There IS burner software installed. My problem is.. There's 2 CD roms on this thing. The top one plays no problem. The bottom one.. The door opens.. The lights do everything they are supposed to. But another drive doesn't show up in control panel. Every time I use the burning software, it doesn't seem to think there's a cd in the drive. I have NO CLUE what brand burner is supposedly in here.

It's marked on the front as 'drive d' by her, but there's no d drive listed in my computer.

Suggestions?
