Re: How To Install An Extra Cd Burner?
if it is not being recognised by the bios, you probably have the jumpers set wrong on the back of the drive
use an 80 wire cable blue plug to the m/board black end plug set the drive connected to this to master middle grey plug set the drive connected to this to slave

Re: How To Install An Extra Cd Burner?
Hi sk4t0 and welcome to TSF
![]() As dai said, it's very likely to be some bad jumpers setting. Jumpers are small plastic caps on small metal pins at the back of the drive. There's a sticker on the drive that tells you what position correspond to what state (slave, master, single, cable select, ...). When you have 2 drives on the same IDE cable you have to set the one that's hooked at the end of the cable as master and one that's in the middle of the cable as slave. You can use tweezers to move the jumpers and if a jumper is missing you can usually get one for free at your local computer shop. To check whether you've hooked your drives correctly, enter the bios (usually by pressing the del key during startup), search for the screen with the info about your drives and verify that they all appear there.
