ex. dvdrw problem

hi there,wasnt sure where to post,im a newbie and dont know a ton about burner issues,but im having a problem with my lg gsa-e4ol external dvd rewriter,it burns cds but when i go to watch my burnt dvd,it shows up with nothing but a black picture,no sound ,nodda,just a black screen,ive been messing around the past 2 days hoping to get it fixed but i still havint found a fix,heres hoping u guys can help ,me out.

you are probably missing codecs

ok thx,ill try it out,i know i downloaded a codec pack last year,so i can watch the movie while it encoeds here,but the fill iso's ,avi's still show up as a black screen ,its a dvd ram as well,not sure that makes a diffrence,it supports +- ,one more thing,does it make a diffrence that when i installed it,it shows as cd drive(g) ?

not unusual put a dvd in it and it should show as dvd
