DVD Writing error - Happening on both Plextors

I have two internal DVD-RW drives, a Plextor PX-740A and a Plextor PX-716A.
They have been working fine up until a week or so ago. I downloaded the latest firmware for each and installed it just to be sure there wasn't something new going on, so they are now up to date. However, I am still having the following problem.

I have WinXP SP2 fully up to date. The two drives are on the same IDE channel, master and slave.

I am using a program called DiscWelder to burn a DVD-Audio disc. The program burns the DVD, then closes it. It then starts the verification process and I get this message as the program stops the verification:

Recorder Error:
SDK error - Read Operation was not successful.
Communication Failure in the DVD Recorder.
Driver error code - 02040803h
The disc in PLEXTOR DVDR PX-740A is not successfully recorded (4300)
6

The PX-716A gives me the exact same error.

I disabled Norton because it just updated itself, but then again, so did Windows. Windows says these drives are working properly.

Any ideas? The Plextor site is useless........

THANKS
