my DVD drive is having trouble playing movies
I recently had to have my PC's power supply replaced, and ever since I got it back, I've been having trouble playing movies on my DVD drive (I didn't previously).
Sometimes I can get a movie to play (some disks fare better than others), but most of the time, CinePlayer (or any other DVD player for that matter) will freeze up and the task manager will say it's not responding. When I finally manage to close the program, XP asks me if I want to send an error report (which I always decline because I have dial-up and am usually not online), and the name of the error is hungapp. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue, because I get basically the same results no matter what program I use. Do I need to reinstall the driver? And if so, what's the best way to do that (I'm a novice when it comes to computer problems)? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks. |

Re: my DVD drive is having trouble playing movies
I know it failed, just trying to determined if it failed due to a voltage spike. I would compare the old PSU with the new. I had the same problem with one I was working on and found the new PSU was not as powerful as the old. Also if you go online and send the error report you may get an answer back. I know you are on dial-up, but it may steer us in the right direction.
