(resolved)how to add more than 1 drive?

is it possible to add more than 1 extra drive?
i have 2 internal hard drives already and 2 dvd drives but would like to add a third internal dvd drive that reads better than the other 2.
do they make a ide ribbon that supports 3 drives?
thanks in advance for any help i can get.

Thumbs Down Re: how to add more than 1 drive?

My understanding is the controller can only handle 2 devices at a time, this is of course talking about ide drives, which I assume is what your asking about ?
If so your only option other than Sata is to get an extra controller card then you can add a further 4 drives to that.

Re: how to add more than 1 drive?

There is very little difference in the 2 cards. I would stay away from raid unless you have a need for it.
Both are parallel ATA controls. Lets your computer run up to 4 more drives. Most computers have 4 internal plugs. They are used for hard drive and cd/dvd drives. If you do not have 4 of the above, you may not need a card to do this.
