Video pauses when writing dvd

hi guys,

thnkyu so much for all the times yu guys hav helped me out previously, very greatful for tht.

ok, so i have a Sony dvd writer (DRU-800A), im using nero 7 premium, if im watchin a video and i give the command to write a dvd, the video pauses for sometime till the actuall writing process starts, then it starts playin again.

why does this happen? how do i correct this problem?

Do you hear the drive spinning up to speed when you do this? I'm not sure how blank disks are treated by drives because I haven't paid enough attention but when you put in a disk with information on it the computer stops while the drive spins up to speed and the data is read. This has always been the case, even now with all the technology we have we still have to wait for DVDs! Both my NECs do it and so has every other drive I've had. Unfortunately I don't think there's a fix for this, other than being patient.
