DVDROM dislikes tea.
So I felt the need to have a glass of icetea last week.. Needless to say my elbow felt the need to share some with the front of my computer!
I thought nothing of it at first, everything still seemed to be fine after cleaning it up. But then it started! A poltergiest took over my dvd drive and tried to pull an old school sub7 open-close cdtray on me. After a good 20 minutes of the thing zipping in and out it stopped, the eject button died. It was a very sad 15 seconds untill i got used to using good old eject button in my computer. Then I noticed my disk space was getting low, I decided to burn some anime onto a few dvd-r's and it all appeared fine, neros verify thing checked out okay and stuff. But now it won't read "some" of the dvds. It has no problem reading cd/dvds that I didn't burn (storebought games and such) and will read about half of my personally burned data dvds, note that all these dvds are the same media - I bought a huge stockpile of the exact same discs and it will only read some of them which is what confuses me the most. Though it deffinitally won't read any of the dvds i've burned after the tea accedent. Any thoughts on this? I really don't have any problem buying a new one but if this doesn't sounds like it's because of the drive going bad or anything then i'd rather just fix the problem instead of spending the extra money. =) Edit: Oh and i'm using a NEC 3550A with most recent firmware (I updated it after this happened to see if that would fix the problem, but didn't do anything) Last edited by Ceptimus; 04-11-2007 at 12:41 AM. |
