Hard Drive Problem

My HP laptop had an accident with a cup of coffee and died. I was able to salvage the hard drive and the memory.
Now I want to read the drive to retrieve some pictures of my daughter and Grandkids.
I went to our local computer store and bought an enclosure and I can't connect it. It is a Hitachi drive but it doesn't look an like IDE connection.
Any suggestions?

I would suggest you get a laptop to IDE converter these are very simple devices which adapt latop hardrives to connect on a PC IDE connection. They change hands on Ebay for next to nothing I recall mine costing less than £5 GBP.
