Which card?
My new pc has four slots for memory cards. SmartMedia, SD/MultiMediaCard,
CompactFlash/Microdrive and Memory Stick. I have only ever used a usb stick before but would like to invest in one or the other of these media. But which one? Cost/capacity is not too important as I would not buy many at a time but which is going to be around the longest? Finally, this pc (xp medcen e) does not have an A drive, can any of the above "trick" the pc that they are a floppy? I ask because sometimes the machine has asked for a floppy and I have had to abort that operation. Dave. |

Re: Which card?
Hi Dave,
I bought one of these because it was one of the fastest flash drives: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220154 It has 200x speed and USB flash drives will be more compatible than memory cards. It is also avalible in 2 GB and 4 GB capacitys. You can format a flash drive such as that one so that there is a floppy partition on it that Windows will think is a floppy drive.

Re: Which card?
Ah! Thanks Matt. I have a couple of MP3/USB sticks but they get full of junk p.d.q. Not being the most organised er, soul, I thought another storage device might be a good idea as I can keep it separate and only use it for specific purposes.
I'm a 61year old electronics tech' but am "resting" at the moment so any expenditure on other than essentials is not on at the mo' but since I have the slots I thought I would enquire. I am time "rich" however so any "elecky"/ sound queries I'm you man. Dave. |
