Can't get MP3 player to work

I just bought two MP3 players for me and my wife.
Both are Sandisk, one is a Sansa e130, one is a Sansa e140.
When I plug them in to a USB port my computer freezes up, after I unplug the MP3 the computer resumes to normal.
This happenes to both MP3 players.
I do know the USB port works, I connected my printer to the port I tried with the MP3 and the printer works.
Also I do know the MP3 work because I went to my parents and tried them both on their computer and they both work fine.

One suggeston I've tried is I unplugged my printer(only USB used), Turned off the computer, plugged in the MP3 , started computer.
Computer booted upto showing the wallpaper and it stops. Unplugged the MP3 and computer finished booting.
Also I do not have a CD for the Mp3. I've checked Sandisk website, but the only downloadable driver is for Win 98.

My comp is a Tigerdirect Systemax Desktop
Intel Pentium 4 2.5 GHZ
1 GB RAM
XP Home with SP2
