I have this peculiar problem of my CD Rom not being detected by the System even through, power supply is going into the ROM. I have also noticed that in Device Manger> Disk Drives> Properties> Details : The Hard Disk Name - HTS424040M9AT00 and below Device Instance ID and then below: IDE\DISKHTS424040M9AT00____________________MA2OA717\5&2B2E56FA&0&0.0.0.
Is this some thing wong ? While booting it takes longer to go from the first ACER screen to Windows. Please could anybody help me. Thanks, |

Re: Acer 1360- CD Rom not detecting
When a hardware item runs perfectly for months and then ceases to work....it's not time to suspect WINDOWS....it's time to suspect that the device has failed.
Turn off your computer...a complete power-down. Now power it up....after throwing the power-switch ON, count out four seconds and press the DELETE key firmly holding it down for a count of two seconds. A BIOS (the motherboard-embeded software that boots the machine and then hands control over to the Operating System) screen will appear. That first-appearing BIOS screen will probably list your machines "devices." Your Master Hard Drive will be listed as an IDE device and is: HD 00 (zeros). If you have a second Hard Drive (on which, for example, you do global-backups) it will be listed as IDE HD 01. If your BIOS sees and can boot your CD ROM drive it WILL BE LISTED. You will also see described on this screen, other "bootable" devices (if you have them) such as floppys. Most BIOS screen-reports do list "bootable devices" on the very first screen as described above. Occasionally that reportage, however, is not listed on the first screen, but on a screen that you can Arrow Down to, and select called ADVANCED OPTIONS. If the BIOS screen does not list your CD-ROM drive, you need a new one. WARNING: Make NO CHANGES to any of the fields in any of the BIOS screens. |

Re: Acer 1360- CD Rom not detecting
if the bios does not see the drive i would suspect
loose plug faulty cable before declaring the drive needed replacing
