CD/DVD drive problem
Hi, first post here.
About two months ago, I bought a new HP laptop. The DVD/CD drive stopped working today. It opens fine, spins up (I can feel and hear it), the yellow light comes on, but nothing will come up on the computer. In the "my computer" section, it does not display the drive. In the device manager, it says the device cannot start adn also says (code 10). I have restarted it several times, checked for the latest drivers (I already had them installed), but nothing happens. Other than in the device manager, it is like the drive isn't even in the computer. Any ideas? Thanks |

Re: CD/DVD drive problem
When I uninstalled it from the device manager and rebooted like you advised, a screen came up that said "Device driver software was not successfully installed....Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed."
I still can't see it on "My computer" So now what? Last edited by jw71; 04-06-2007 at 02:49 AM. |

Re: CD/DVD drive problem
BTW, I can still see the drive on the device manager, but it now has a little exclamation point in a yellow triangle on the drive.
And I also now have the same exclamation point on another thing on the device manager under "Network adapters" - isatap.{C6A71BC5-45D8-42E3-AAB3-E0D7E23F71C3} I don't know if that second one was there before I followed your directions, though. Last edited by jw71; 04-06-2007 at 02:56 AM. |
