Philips Lightscribe DVD writer not burning!
Hello there,
I have a Philips DVDR1668L1 Lightscribe DVD writer, and this is my third one. I owned two Asus DVD writers before, and all had the same problem . I sold them, and the people who bought them are using them with no problems. In fact one of these drives wrote perfecly when I took it to the service center right before my eyes. The current Philips DVD writer also has the same problem. I tried every different media with different speeds(brands), and the result has always been the same. When I try t burn the dvd in Nero 7, the system is locked at around 4% process, and only a reset will close the program. In fact the writer works fine on another computer, so the problem is probably caused by something in the motherboard. I have also tried three different (although all of them were 40 pin mine uses 80 pin ones) IDE cables, checked the master slave settings, even used a new power supply (500W, thermaltake, for my 3 year old system).I actually managed to write 2-3 data dvds at different times but that was about it. I wasted many dvds to this problem, and really do not know what to do about it. Thank you for any help, I really appreciate it. My system specs are also below. CPU: AMD Barton 2500+ @ 1.84 GHZ GPU: Leadtek Nvidia Gforce 5900 XT RAM: 2 * 512 MB Kingston 400 MHZ DDR 3200 CL3 HARD drive. Samsung 80gb 7200 rpm 8mb cache slave drive: Asus CDRW (it also has occasional cd writing problems though not as serius as the other one) M/B: EPOX rda3i nforce 2 chipset IDE controller: NVIDIA nforce 2 IDE controller v2.6 |

Re: Philips Lightscribe DVD writer not burning!
I just came accross something when browsing the forums. My optical storage devices in the computer I am having writing problems with are seen as SCSI devices. However, they are not SCSI, but only ide. I think the problem could also be from this. Is there a way to fix this?
