Lite-On SHW-160P6S-04 problems

This drive was recently installed on my first computer build. It is not recognized by windows media player 11 and I receive a connection error halfway through burning with the included nero software. I recently updated the firmware through Lite-On's site but that didn't help. It reads CD's fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

My System

Looks like you have a generic psu that came with the case read this artical about psu selection....the rest of your system is really nice !
http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...selection.html
Also make sure you are using an 80 pin connector

i agree with twajetmech, you are probably running short on power when burning and i would expect to see a 650w quality supply running the system
a quality supply costs on avg $100+ so you can tell the quality of yours when the case and all sells for $70
it always pays to buy the case and psu as seperate items

Does that explain not being recognized by wmp though? Is that a separate issue?

I am using an 80 pin cable. Software bundled with the drive was nero and powerdvd. Lite-On's site had some firmware that I installed but that was it.
