Does anyone know if its possible to lift the audio track from a DVD and use it to create an audio CD?

It is...I know with the creative cards you have to option to record what you hear...just set the sample rate to cd quality, after which you can record the files to cd

'Record what you hear' works in realtime. If you want something quicker and with more options, try a DVD Audio Ripper.
