If you have backed up your files already try to format it.
if not then try a file recovery software. aftre recovery of your files try to format. check the switch hasn't moved to read only position.

thanks ....
Every type of anti virus also will detect these kind of files copy.exe, inform.exe .... I had been tried flash drive that 10 different type of brand such as kingston... and others... Any flash drive also facing this problem.. I wonder does any way to solve it permanently..? Due to ur ways, "EVERY TIME" I have to plug in my flash drive, anti-virus product detect it and delete it, "EVERY TIME" backup it and restore it..the progress repeating. is very time consuming for me to do it... |

I have had a flash drive for years 256MB and just got a 1GB version.
I have NEVER had a problem with my drive and programs. I will however check out your statemnt about those particular files after backing up my 256. Are thses all normal files from XP? HAve you tried checking your PC for virus ?? it could be that your windows folder is exempted from checks! have you tried putting it in zip form (compressed file) or is that a problem ?

No, Because I'm studying in college so many of my friend having different brand of pen drive. So When we plug in it, the anti-virus auto detect and delete it those files. This prove that not every of my friends' pen drive contains virus.. sure anti- virus got some problems...
Following is the anti-virus product I tried 1. Kaspersky anti-virus /internet security 6.0 2. Norton Anti Virus U can try those products... see whether ur pen drive having problem same as me.. |

Please advise what 'source' and "programs" you are using that get removed.
I don't use Norton any more and cannot understand why a legit program would be wiped on a flash drive and not on a hard drive since its all a question of signatures! Antivirus look for a signature in a file, the signatures are usually located in a particular place within the file. ONLY if the signature and location ( location also depends upon OS too if I remember correctly) are confirmed during the check will the AV remove them and if you select ASK rather than leaving to auto, then you will be propted for action. I would suggest that you find a PC that is 100% clean or use a bootable CD that has been written on a clean PC, then run spyware, malware, AV tests on your PC. maybe you should pop over to our friends on Hijack this ... but its something I would like check out first as well , so please tell me about those files so I can try.

Try renaming the files to something different. You could try copy123.exe or something else. Or 1copy2.exe. This way the AV programs will not detect the files as bad as their database does not have that particular filename in the database. You will also be able to recognize what each one does.
Or you could try and see if there is a setting in the program that will allow you bypass that file being scanned by a AV scanner. Last edited by carsey; 11-27-2006 at 10:35 AM. |
