Problem with removable storage devices.

I have no idea what caused this to start. I haven't installed any new software or hardware, but now i can't access any my thumb drives and what not.

They connect, there arent any errors. but when i try to access them i get a prompt asking me to format them.

They all work perfectly fine on any other comp, but mine seems to think there all raw.

And, there be no spyware, viruses or nothing that could be doing this, cuz that was the first thing i checked for.

Edit: i tried formating one, and i still get the prompt after i formated it.

Any help is greatly appreicated :)
Many thanks in advance to any who can help!

When you connect that drive back to problematic machine. Go to Device Manager and delete USB Mass Storage Device Driver. Unplug it. Reboot computer and plug it back it. Let system to re-detect it and reinstall the drive. It is possible that you will have to do same process to driver above which control USB Hub. Backup Registry, or enable System Restore function so you can go back if needed before doing this

Try something for me. Shut down your computer and physically remove the power cord from the machine. Wait 3 minutes or so and then power up again with the usb in the port.

Did you do the same thing to the USB Root hub and the host controller? Have you tried a different USB port. Physically verify that the pins in the ports are all there and intact. Lastly, have you tried any other USB devices and do they act odd?
