Got a Sony CD-RW that I've never used to burn things :P

And I was curious. I read somewhere that I could use my dvd's as a sort of floppy disk... Is there a way to just drag and drop the stuff onto the dvd and take it out and go? Or do I have to burn it?

I don't understand what they ment as "using it like a floppy disk"...

And which drivers should I get for it?

Hi,
Well I have a feeling you wont need any drivers as they are for hardware, what you will need is a program like Nero Burning Rom, and a blank DVD-RW.
You can use the program to burn files to the DVD-RW and you can add files after the initial burn.
I am unsure of a program that lets you just drag and drop, but it could exist by all means.

You can use the packet writing feature of Nero called InCD which uses the UDF format. This allows you to use a CDRW or DVDRW in the same way as a floppy, dragging and dropping files from Windows Explorer. You can also use Roxio's DirectCD to do the same thing.

Note: You need to use ReWritable CDs/DVDs

Ok, thank you :)

Another question though... What's the best thing to burn cd's with? Low budget, or free, doesn't really matter to me :P

If you mean hardware, they're all pretty much the same, although the better ones have features like buffer underrun protection which reduces the chance of bad burns. The important thing is the quality of the CD/DVD, some brands are better than others. I try to avoid the really cheap ones for recording data I want to keep for a long time. Find a brand that works well with your recorder and stick with it.

For software, Nero is one of the best. You could also try Alcohol, DeepBurner, CDBurnerXP Pro (free) or FinalBurner (free).
