CD-RW still reads but suddenly stopped writing

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with a Samsung CD-RW that for the past couple of years has worked fine but suddenly stopped burning. It will read fine but won't write. The only thing I've changed is I recently added a IEEE1394 card. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Somewhat similar what happened to my cd-rw. First try reinstalling your burning software. Does it write cd-rw disk? Try it on some other system.

I first noticed it trying to burn from Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player says "Connect a Burner and Restart" so then I tried just sending files straight to the D drive and manually burning to disk and got a message that there wasn't a writable disc in the unit which there was. It's like it just lost it's burn capability because it still reads files on discs.

No I haven't tried any other program. I finally took the drive out the other day and am going to replace it with a DVD/CD writer. I have been wanting a DVD writer for a while anyway so it sounded like a good time to get one. Thanks for the response.
