please help with dvdrw sound prob
Hi Everyone. The Lite-On dvdrw SHW160P6S I have seems to work fine reading CDs and burning. This is the 1st time I'm using it to watch a DVD movie.
The sound seems to be really choppy. Sounds like it's going in slow motion speed or something. The image is clear though. I've updated the firmware but that doesn't change anything. I've tried using Realplayer, VLC, cyberlink powerdvd and it's all the same. Sound works fine and great for video games and downloaded movies from the hard drive. It's only when I insert a DVD into this optical. I've checked the IDE wiring and they are all plugged in. Any ideas or suggestions...? |

Perhaps you need to configure the DVD sound out put for your sound system. If it's set as 5:1 and you've only got a stereo speaker set, it may not sound so good!

Hmmm. I switched from 5.1 Dolby Digital to 2channel from my Realtek HD Audio Manager which was still causing problems. I then switched the 5.1 setting from my Logitech Z-5300e to 2channel also and it seems to do the trick....thanks.
Now I'm wondering why my 5.1 Logitech sound system isn't compatible with the Realtek HD on-board sound...I have the correct wires going to the correct ports(color coded ;p). I do a sound test with 5.1 and no sound so I switch back to 2channel and I get sound....Any clues...?

Could be a question of which connectors you should be using in stereo mode .. some of the newer boards ask you what you have put in a certain connector and switch the function according to what you tell them you just plugged in. older sytems thoughexpect ceratin colours to do certain functions. On y old mobo ( which I can see from here) I have placed stickers saying Green = line out, Blue= Line in, Red = Microphone .. for the mobo sound and strangely enough the Soundblaster uses the same colour configuration.
