Toshiba SD-R6012 DVD-ROM does not burn anything!

Dear All,

I have a Toshiba A25-S307 laptop with Win XP OS. I am having trouble burning CDs, DVDs. When I use Nero, or any other burner program, I can finish burning successfully (according to the program) but my disc remains blank! (When burning with Nero, the "verify written data" box is checked, the verification process goes up to 53% than it stops and the poor DVD-ROM tries verifying the data but it can't for some reason.)

For the record, it CAN read CDs, I can install games, etc from install CDs. However, I CANNOT read any DVDs. To be more precise, when inserted a DVD disc, it reads in, stops flashing, loads in, but shows that disc is empty. It showed empty disc for original DVD movies too!

I have tried reinstalling the driver, download firmwares, etc. but nothing worked out right. I really don't want to go and buy a new DVD-ROM or take it to a repair shop.

Please help me out.

Driver Version 5.1.2535.0
Revision: 1334
OS: WinXP

Are you sure that other programs can't do this? Nero is very buggy, I have trouble using that program just to burn from a simple ISO disk image.

Try this utility and see if it can burn. Also, try a lens cleaning DVD and CD.
