Hybrid SACD issue (moved from other section)

I realised I posted this in the wrong section, so I am hopefully in the right place now.

I use a DVD-RW drive to listen to Hybrid SACDs.

The first Hybrid SACD I used was Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. It worked fine. I retried it several weeks later and it didn't. It hasn't worked since.

The second I used was The Kinks' Preservation: Act 2. It did not work the first time I tried it, but it worked the second. And the fourth.

The drive can only be persuaded on certain days, it seems. A bit like a grumpy person. Is there a reason for this? Is there a way to make it more reliable?

P.S. Normal CDs work okay in it every time.

I use a Samsung Writemaster TS-H552U.

I'm not sure how to update the firmware, but I doubt the firmware has anything to do with it.

Could it be something to do with the player looking for a DVD layer instead of a CD one? If so, can I tell it what to look for?
