I have PAL dvd's. my nec dvd+rw nd-5100a played them until the 5 times then it stopped playing anything. I got dvd region free and installed it and got region 1 back. But it won't reset to pal, i guess that's region 2. And when i put my pal back in, it shut it down again, and i had to delete dvd region free and reinstall it just to get back to region one again. can anyone help me reset the damn nec dvd+rw on my computer?

Hi there,
does this message come up when you put a DVD in? If so, then you are ethier trying to play a DVD out of your region, or your drive has been set to the wrong region.

Region one: United States of America and Canada. You can only play the discs from these areas.

Try un-installing and re-installing drivers for your drive and selecting the correct DVD. If you are trying the play a disc in the incorrect region, then it won't work.

Please explain your problem in futher detail, and post the make and model of the drive.

Pal is an Europe and Australian setting and your DVD sees it as outside region 1 (USA) you could set it to Australian region and it should play.

i have already used up my 5 times to change the region

you see since i have used the 5 times up the drive has gone to region not selected and it won't let me make a selection, so the drive is dead as far as dvd's are concerned. I can flash it and it may work, but i son't know how to do that.

Do a Google search for region free players. They will play disk from all regions.
